Centre of Céret 10 min walk for a good choice of shops, restaurants, bike hire and Saturday market. This charming little southern town 20 km from the Spanish border has French sophistication with its modern art museum and links with Picasso, while a Spanish feel is reflected in the dances which take place in the shaded squares. Nearby are wide sandy beaches and seafood restaurants, Argelès 30 min drive and a choice of picturesque coastal villages with little bays such as Collioure within 45 min. Between the sea and the Pyrenean mountains, the area offers a wide choice of contrasting activities. Hill walking on paths directly from the house, and cascades for canyoning only 4 min from house. Golf at St Cyprien 35 km. From Céret, pony trekking, hang-gliding or take the lazy option on the little yellow train from Villefranche 60 km up into the mountains crossing rivers and gorges.
